I have come to the conclusion that I am much better at commenting to other peoples journals than updating my own.
Maybe I have nothing interesting to say, except that Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was the only professional at Monday nights dress rehearsal for the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Because 1, She turned up to rehearse her part, and 2, she dressed up for it because, duh,
dress rehearsal. I think Delta Goodrem could learn a lot from Dame Kiri. Just saying.
On the train on the way to the MCG, at Museum station, (shut up. it will alway be Museum station to me, not Melbourne Central), three uni students with instrument cases boarded, and started discussing which Beethoven piece they were doing next. I leant over to hubby and whispered 'Music Geeks!', which cracked him up! (to clarify, hubby plays violin. And nintendo)
I
still don't know what the duck thing was all about, but someone mentioned
Leunig, which is Melbourne related at least. Loved the flying tram, and the acknowledgement of the Wurunjderi (sp?) people (traditional dwellers).
And, to the asian bloke who sat in the row in front of us: nyer nyer, you missed the last half after the athletes came out! Maybe you should not have been in such a hurry to upload your
illegally recorded movie and images of the ceremony. Didn't you read your ticket? Nyer.
And at the ceremony last night, weren't all those camera flashes going off in the stands just lovely? Some people are going to have great pictures of the backs of the heads of the people in front of them! Heee!
What did everyone else think of the opening ceremony?
