just eaten a banana that has been in my handbag since Wednesday. Yum! That's what happens when I'm feeling peckish, and too lazy to get up and go to the fruit bowl. Bananas are still a luxury; supermarkets are still price gouging at above $10/kg. The local fruit & veg had them last week for $6/kg, so I bought up big, and the kids (big and small) have enjoyed them.

Anyone know of a good (and permanent) way to get rid of ants? Any container in the kitchen without an airtight lid is fair game for them, and it's not just sweet stuff either. Ever tried to figure out if there are ants in the vegemite?

I use Ant-Rid baits. They seem to be quite effective, and relatively child-proof

I had a banana yesterday. It was beautiful!

I second the antrid idea, although last time I ahd ants I had to put it down a couple of times before they finally buggered off.
